The University of Zurich offers a fellowship for researchers who wish to develop and lead their own research programme in ecological stability. This position provides substantial intellectual freedom, active mentorship, and support within a collaborative and inspiring research environment.

Tasks

  • Develop and lead an original research programme aligned with the scientific interests of the group.
  • Propose and pursue research agendas contributing to understanding and predicting ecological stability through theoretical, computational, experimental, observational, or interdisciplinary approaches.
  • Shape and execute research projects, including fieldwork and analyses of ecological data, planned and organised by the fellow.
  • Engage in regular scientific interaction, guidance, and collaboration within the research group and the wider University of Zurich environment.
  • Collaborate on projects involving Arctic ecosystems, supported through partnerships within the university.

Requirements

  • PhD awarded no more than four years before the application deadline.
  • Compelling vision for future research.
  • Creativity and initiative in developing scientific ideas.
  • Strong record of research achievement relative to career stage.
  • Ability to bring research projects to completion.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative and constructive research environments.
  • Wide range of disciplinary backgrounds relevant to ecological stability are encouraged.
