Tasks
- Design and execute in-vivo experiments in rodents to evaluate the pharmacodynamics, efficacy, and safety of novel therapeutic candidates for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
- Establish, validate, and use disease-relevant rodent models (e.g., obesity and diabetes) and readouts to support various drug discovery projects.
- Collaboratively design and execute in-vivo studies, and interpret data from in-vivo experiments to assess the pharmacodynamics and therapeutic efficacy of novel compounds.
- Support the development and characterization of novel in-vivo models for obesity-related comorbidities.
- Diligently follow national and international animal welfare laws and align with the company's commitment to the 3Rs (Replace, Reduce, Refine).
- Continuously improve test systems, analyses, and data evaluation.
- Contribute to work process optimization including data capture, storage, and assay automation.
- Work closely with all members of the group, share duties, maintain a clean work environment, and actively contribute to the positive work atmosphere within the group.
Requirements
- MSc/BSc in Life Sciences or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate ("Lehrabschluss") (no PhD) with at least 3 years of industry experience working with in-vivo models.
- Mouse work experience required, including managing animal cohorts, injections via various routes, behavioral assays, mouse monitoring, tissue sampling, and processing.
- LTK1 or equivalent is required.
- Experience in rodent models of obesity and functional readouts, such as glucose and insulin tolerance tests, body composition analysis, whole-body metabolism (Promethion), and blood pressure.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral.
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork.
- Excellent data management and record-keeping skills.
