The Algorithms and Visualization Group in the Social Networks Lab at ETH Zürich develops network data science methods for applications in various domains. To further research in sports analytics, the team is seeking to expand with a postdoctoral researcher. The position is intended for an initial period of two years, with flexible starting date and duration. High-quality event and tracking data are changing the way association football (soccer) is analyzed and presented, and the group aims to explore innovative approaches and apply them in practice.
Tasks
- Conduct research on methods for match and performance analysis
- Teach and supervise students

Requirements
- Doctoral degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or similar; candidates with a degree in any sports and a strong computational leaning are equally welcome
- Enthusiasm for data and sports, including football
- A curious, creative, and critical attitude
- Interest in theory, empirical research, and substantive interpretation
- Excellent written and spoken English; German a plus
